We were greatly honoured to have former President of Ireland, Prof. Mary McAleese, deliver the Inaugural D’Arcy McGee Beacon Lecture to an invited audience at the University of St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto on October 29th.
The event was a resounding success. With introductory remarks from Prof. Mark McGowan (Principal of St. Michael’s) and Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney TD, the lecture was delivered to a live audience on Zoom, while simultaneously being streamed worldwide on YouTube.
Prof. McAleese’s riveting lecture provided an inspiring and provocative insight into Irish history and how it has played into the changing nature of contemporary Ireland, and would be of great interest to anyone interested in this subject.
