Robert Osburn (Flaherty 2018) receives €1 million IRC Advanced Laureate Award
ICUF is pleased to take this opportunity to extend our congratulations to Prof. Robert Osburn of University College Dublin, on being awarded the prestigious Irish Research Council Advanced Laureate Award last December. The €1 million grant will support his significant research in Knot theory.
As an ICUF Flaherty Visiting Professor, Robert visited McMaster University, where he collaborated with Canadian colleagues to further research in the Knot theory field, quantum topology and number theory. Since then, Robert completed a visiting professorship at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in 2022, during which he gave the talk entitled “Knots and Modularity”, which is linked below.
The IRC Advanced Laureate Award was awarded to fund Robert’s project titled ‘Q-Series, Quantum Knot Invariants and Modularity’. We are excited to see Robert’s work progress with such success, and wish him the very best on his future endeavours.
