We are delighted to announce that with support from the Irish Government’s Department of Arts, Heritage, and Gaeltacht, the Ireland-Canada University Foundation [ICUF], the Ireland-United States [Fulbright] Commission for Educational Exchange, and Údarás na Gaeltachta:

Cruinniú 2014: A Forum for International Irish Language Learners, Teachers, & Speakers

will take place from

Sunday 15th – Thursday 19th June 2014

in the Connemara Coast Hotel, Furbo, Co. Galway.

Crúinniú 2014 is a unique gathering of overseas learners, teachers and speakers of Irish to celebrate the language, to engage with its heritage, and to discuss how to shape its future and growth on the island of Ireland and internationally.

Cruinniú 2014 is aimed at, but not limited to, Irish language teachers and learners funded by the Department of Arts, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht directly or via ICUF/Fulbright. A draft program is attached. Our intention is to conduct Cruinniú 2014 sessions through Irish and English, with the exact mix to be based on the final profile of attendees. This is to ensure a wide level of engagement in discussion and activities.

The registration fee is €400.00, based on double occupancy, will include accommodation, catering, and attendance at all Cruinniú sessions.  Day / sessional rates will also be considered. Participants will be responsible for their travel to the Connemara Coast Hotel.  We are exploring the possibility of promotional airfares and transfers from airports to Galway.  Further details on registration, the program, airfares, and scholarship opportunities are available here.

In the meantime we hope that you will:

  • consider attending and register your intention to attend by 31st January 2014 with colleen.dube@fulbright.ie
  • spread the word to other possible attendees
  • forward any questions / suggestions regarding the program to colleen.dube@fulbright.ie or james.kelly@icuf.ie

Kind regards,

Cruinniú 2014 Steering Committee
