Dr. Desmond Green appointed ICUF Chairman

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Desmond Green as the chairman of our Board of Trustees. Dr. Green replaces Professor Seamus Smyth, President Emeritus of the National University of Ireland in Maynooth, who has retired after holding that position since 2008.

Desmond Green is a graduate of chemical engineering from University College Dublin, and while a student there, was the Auditor of the Literary Historical Society. He obtained an MEngSc from the University of New Brunswick in Canada where went on to become a faculty member in its Engineering School.

Desmond worked in the chemical industry in Canada and in the United States and returned to Ireland in 1971 where he set up the hazardous waste management company MinChem. He is a founder member of the Dalkey School Project, the first multi- denominational primary school in Ireland. He was awarded an honorary DSc by UNB in 1995, and has served on the Board of ICUF since 2000.
