Visiting Professorship: James M. Flaherty
Brief Description of Work: The scientific part of the visit will be focused on the development of models for describing interactions of fluid and elastic media. We shall study two problems: and flow of fluids in deformable channels, with applications to blood flow and chemical engineering, and deformable porous media, e.g., fluid flow in membranes, with applications biological sciences and energy research. I will also use this visit for establishing further connections with universities, research centers and networks in Ireland, and facilitate exchanges between PIMS network and universities in Ireland, and University-industry interactions, through student exchanges, researchers mobility and entrepreneurship.
