The board and executive of ICUF would like to extend a warm welcome to The Honourable Loyola Hearn, recently installed Canadian Ambassador to Ireland.

Hailing from Renews in Newfoundland, Ambassador Hearn worked as a teacher before entering political life. A member of the Provincial Assembly for 11 years, he served as the province’s minister of education from 1985 to 1989. Ambassador Hearn entered federal politics in 2000, and was elected to Parliament where he served until 2008, where he held a number of posts,  most recently the position of Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.

We welcome the Ambassador, and send him and his family every good wish for their coming stay in Ireland.
